Team USA Captains Announced for Inaugural APP Atlantic Cup
First-ever international team-based pro pickleball tournament to be held April 12-14, 2023 at the Polo Club in Boca Raton, Fla.

CHICAGO (October 11, 2022) – The Association of Pickleball Professionals (APP) has named its captains to represent Team USA at the APP Atlantic Cup, the first-ever international team-based professional pickleball tournament. The inaugural event will be held April 12-14 at the prestigious Polo Club in Boca Raton, Fla.
Beth Bellamy and Scott Moore, both mainstays on the APP Tour as senior pros, will serve as captains for Team USA for the event. Bellamy and Moore will help formulate player selection criteria and serve as team coaches throughout the tournament.
Beth Bellamy, a former top-25 World Tennis Pro, has been nothing short of dominant in her time with the APP. She is currently the number one-ranked Sr. Women’s Pro Doubles player and No. 2-ranked Sr. Women’s Pro Singles player in the World Pickleball Rankings. In her past 10 APP tournaments, Bellamy has taken home 18 gold medals, including winning the triple crown at the APP Chicago Open and APP Cincinnati Open.
Scott Moore is one of the most decorated senior pickleball professionals in the sport’s history. After a tennis career that spanned over 30 years, Moore began playing pickleball in 2013 and quickly rose to the top. Moore has won the triple crown six times, owns 20 USAPA Nationals gold medals, and 12 US Open gold medals. He and his son Daniel have traveled the world teaching pickleball clinics, including in Japan, Mexico, Portugal and Spain. Moore currently ranks No. 8 in Sr. Men’s Pro Doubles and No. 10 in Sr. Men’s Pro Singles in the World Pickleball Rankings
The APP Atlantic Cup is the world’s first professional tournament to feature two international teams in head-to-head competition. The first-of-its-kind tournament spearheads the APP’s commitment to growing pickleball as a globally recognized sport.
“I am honored to be named a captain for Team USA. The APP Atlantic Cup represents an important step forward as pickleball continues to grow internationally.” said Bellamy.
“The APP Atlantic Cup is such an incredible event – the first of its kind – and will help establish pickleball as a global game with the APP leading the charge,” said Moore. “I’m excited to help lead Team USA alongside Beth Bellamy.”
Team USA and Team Europe will each consist of eight players – four men and four women. Six USA Pickleball-sanctioned matches will be played each of the three days of competition in Men’s and Women’s Singles, Men’s and Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles, as the two teams vie for international bragging rights.
The selection criteria for the teams will be announced soon, and final rosters will be announced in the coming months.
